To create these bird wood carving/paper sculptures I first carve each figure from basswood. After I have the body shape sculpted I cut out each feather and leaf from various types of paper, attach them to the form and paint them using acrylics and gouache. To create the moths I do the same process but instead of wood I use plaster for the bodies. It is a very intricate and detailed process.
